Baby Guineas

We have some new animals on the farm:) we got some 2 day old baby guineas! pretty much, guineas are birds that run around the farm and eat ticks and bugs. so we were in the farm store this week and as soon as we walked in the door of the store brody heard them chirping! Brody started saying "bok bok" "bok bok" (which is what he says for a chicken). anyways...we had been wanting to get some guineas to help control the tick population out here:) so of course brody talked us into it! right now they are under a heat lamp in the garage and brody asks to go out there about 5 times a day:) he is doing really well learning to pet them very gently!

Gardening and Picking Strawberries

This week has been wonderful! Brian has the week off since he was in Africa for the past 10 days. We have pretty much just been enjoying farm life:) Today we started working on our first garden! its been something brian has been so excited about doing....me on the other hand..i see it as alot of work! but slowly im getting more and more excited about it! So brody of course was right in the middle of everything "helping". THere is hardly ever time brian is on the tractor that brody isnt sitting on his lap. i think that kid would ride on the tractor all day if we let him!

We also went and picked strawberries today! We picked...Brody ate! He thought he was in heaven i think! There was no stopping him! i would have to hold onto his hands to keep him from picking them and putting them straight in his mouth! i tried pick them and then let him put them in the bucket...but the strawberries always ended up in his mouth! he was a Red Mess by the end of it:) He had So much fun thought! he calls all fruit "popples"..i have no clue why (thats how he started saying pineapple and now thats what all fruit is) anyways....all he said the whole time we were there is "Popples! MMmmm! " "Popples! Mmmmm! he even sat on one and i took a cute picture of his cute little rear end with strawberry smushed all over it:)

Easter and after

We were minus brian this easter....this is why im just now posting about it! dont want to put anything on the internet about my husband being away in another country for 10 days! Brian was on a missions trip in Africa...he had a great time! We on the other hand were trying to stay as busy as possible here, so we didnt miss him so terribly bad! We went to church with mom and dad and we let brody hunt easter eggs when we got home. He LOVED it....i was really suprised! He thought it was such a fun game to find them hidden all around the yard! the word "hidden" is used very loosely:) i posted a few pics of him in his handsome little easter oufit hunting eggs. It was sad not having brian around for so long....Brody got introduced to "skype" and thought it was the neatest thing to talk to daddy on the computer! everytime he saw the computer he would ask for "dada". Brody really missed brian...i wasnt sure what would happen when he finally saw him again. i didnt know if he would really grasp how long he had been gone, or if when Brody saw him again, he would act like he had just seen him yesterday. My mom had to take Brody to the airport to meet brian ( i had to work:() When brody saw his dad coming down the escalator, he started RUNNING to him as fast as he could. mom and brian both said they hadnt ever seen him run that fast before! Then he wouldnt let brian go, he kept pointing to him saying "dada, dada". like he was telling everyone in the airport "this is my dad". i WISH so bad i could have seen it!

A wonderful weekend

Brody went to go stay with his Meme and Poppy for the weekend. It was very unplanned....kinda a last minute thing. They were missing brody alot and asked if they could have him for a few days. i was wondering what i was going to do with myself for a couple of days, because brian was going to be very busy working on some music for a friend. i knew i was going to be alone for most of the weekend.
On saturday night around 10:30 i got the call from erin and nathan saying that erins water had broken (at 36 weeks). i told them if they needed anything to call because i was husband-less and baby-less for the night. after quite a few phone calls back and forth (the last one being that erin was 6 cm dialated) i jumped out of bed and decided to go up to the hospital! the doctor said quite a few times that the baby would definitely be here by 3:30. so i was planning on staying until baby jonah made his appearance and then go home and go to sleep for the rest of the night. well...3:30 came, 5:00 came...no jonah! finally around 7 a.m. he finally got here! and i finally got in bed around 10 a.m....for a few hours at least:)
i wouldnt have wanted to spend my night any other way! i got to spend some great moments with erin in the delivery room before she had jonah. alot of time was also spent down in the waiting room with erins parents..which was so fun to be apart of seeing them awaiting their first grandson!
i felt like getting to be there was a special blessing from the Lord....if erin had gone into labor any other night of the YEAR i would have been at home because of my sweet baby upstairs in the bed...or even if my husband had stayed with him, i still would not have been able to stay up all night due to the fact i would have to have some energy to chase after brody the next day. i felt blessed beyond words to be at the hospital getting to be apart of one of my very best friends first child entering the world! Congrats Nathan and Erin!

It runs in the family...

I am so happy that Brody loves the horses...i guess it was bred into him. The minute he is outside he starts calling for them....well, one of them...he only can say Nala's name. when he gets up in the morning he goes to the back window and starts banging on it and YELLS "Nala" over and over again if he cant see them. He loves feeding them carrots. If there arent any carrots around he starts picking grass and puts his hand through the fence and tries to get them to eat it....hes even tried feeding them a rock or two. Weve started letting him ride with us some....he LOVES it. theres not much that brody will sit still and do for more than 3 minutes. But, he will go on a 45 minute trailride sitting in front of Brian and he acts like hes having the time of his life! Hes definitely not scared of them either..which we will have to help him learn to have a healthy fear of them at some point! They will lean down and sniff his hair and give him kisses...and he just giggles! sometimes he will even push their heads out of the way like he is annoyed...like i said, no fear! Today we put him on Zoe and he kept leaning down and hugging her and giving her kisses...it was too cute! here are some pics....

a few things...

Right now Brody takes 2 naps a day...i love it, it definitely gives me enough time to get some things done around the house and i dont get too tired of entertaining him because its only for a few hours at a time. I can definitely see that only one nap a day is right around the corner. Hes in this weird stage where hes not quite ready for one nap but he doesnt need 2. it takes him forever to fall asleep sometimes and he gets upset now when i tell him its naptime. so im sure within the next few weeks i will be biting the bullet and having to deal with quite a few fussy days while we get him on a new schedule! it will definitely be much easier now that the weather is nicer...hes so much easier to entertain when we can go outside for alot of the day! he gets so upset when he has to come inside....he doesnt pitch a fit about it...he genuinely gets really SAD when he has to come in! its so pitiful! i guess its a good thing...id hate to live on a farm and have a kid that hates the outdoors:)

quick story....today the 3 of us were outside in the front yard playing and i turned around to talk to brian for a second...before i knew it brody was stomping in the mud puddles....IN HIS CROCS (with socks on underneath). of course there wasnt anything i could do then...so brody had a great time this afternoon splashing in the puddles:)
