Swim Lessons!

We started Brody in swim lessons this past week! I wasnt sure how he was going to do....He loves the water, but he wasnt very happy when we told him that we would not be getting in the water with him. We explained to him that his teacher wouldnt let him "sink", but he REALLY wanted one of us to get in there with him. When we walked into the pool, he teared up just a little bit and I was wondering if he would actually do it. But he got in the pool and ended up loving it and doing a great job! He already cant wait for next week!

Levi's stats

We haven't had a weight/ height check on Levi in awhile because he hasn't been for a "well visit" at the pediatrician since he was 2 months old....oh but we have had plenty of sick visits! He's somewhere around 17 pounds(64th percentile) and 26 inches long(57th percentile). Maybe we will get in for his 4 month visit sometime before he's 6 months old:)

Brody and his Paci

Brody has never been really attached to a blanket or stuffed animal. His love is for his paci. We thought about taking them away several times, but honestly I don't care that he has them. He only uses them to sleep...as long as he doesn't carry them around with him everywhere, I'm good with it:) On Sunday night we spent the night with my parents, and tragically Brody left his pacis at their house. We didn't figure it put until we put him in bed on Monday night. So I'm thinking maybe this is a good night to see if he can sleep without them! I tell him the sad news that his pacis are at Nonna's house. He gets the saddest look on his face like he just lost his best friend. I distract him with his nightly Bible story, and he seemed to forget about it for a few minutes. He quietly laid his head down on his pillow for a few seconds and then said "mommy? I don't know how to sleep by myself." I said "do you want me to lay down with you?" then he said " no mommy, I don't know how to sleep without my pacis". Oh it broke my heart! He didn't pitch a fit or get mad, he just genuinely had no clue how to go to sleep without them! So i pulled out a box of random pacis that we have. None of them are the kind that he likes. So he literally put every single one of them in his mouth until he found 2 that seemed to pass the test. He looked up and said "Them (these) are just perfect!" if sleeping with his pacis helps him not grow up so fast then he can have them until he's 16 for all I care:)

Levi's WakeMed Visit

Well i was hoping all of the sickness would leave us when the month of january left...but no such luck! Levi was sick 2 different viruses in january along with an ear infection. Levi had just finished his antibiotic for his ear infection, when he came down with another fever (Saturday the 12th). I assumed the ear infection had not gone away and was planning on taking him to the pediatrician the next day for another round of antiobiotics. i just KNEW it had to be his ear, because there was NO WAY he could have his 3rd virus in a matter of 6 weeks! Too bad i was wrong! That night i noticed he was pretty lethargic and his respirations were very short and shallow. I could tell he wasnt getting good oxygen because his little fingers and nail beds had a blue appearance. So we jumped in the car and headed to WakeMed North. His color looked better by the time we got there, but his fever was still high. Since he is so young and his fever was high they did not take it lightly! He had a blood culture, chest xray, IV, and catheter (for a urine sample). Poor baby was poked and prodded so much! it took them multiple times to get the IV inserted:( We got to WakeMed North around 8:30 pm and around 3:30 am they transported us via ambulance to WakeMed Childrens hospital to observe him overnight. Let me just say that hopefully your child never has to be transported to wakemed, BUT if they do, the Children's Transport team is AMAZING! i was so impressed with them! They have a team specifically for children, that comes to other wakemed locations and takes the children to the childrens hospital. They were AMAZING with Levi! A poor little 5 month old on a stretcher was such a sad little sight, but they made everything so easy. You could tell they loved their job and cared alot about each kid that was in their care. The respiratory therapist that came with them, kept squirting sugar water on Levi's paci whenever it would fall out. She was instantly his best friend:) im convinced he kept spitting out his paci, just to get some more:) After observation at WakeMed Childrens hospital, they let us go home around noon the next day. They chalked it up to a virus after all of the tests came back. His doctor called on monday morning to tell me that the blood culture had grown some bacteria....which of course freaked me out! She said she thought it was a mistake and that the sample had gotten contaminated somehow. So we had to have more blood work done by his pediatrician that day. Brian took him in, since i was at work. The nurses tried several times to get a blood sample, but couldnt find a vein. They told brian that we were going to have to take him somewhere else to get it done. Brian asked the nurses if he could pray about it first.....so he prayed and wouldnt you know the doctor came in and got it on the first try! Praise the Lord! So after a couple of days of anxiously waiting for that blood culture, we found out that everything was fine! Levi is much better now, and i am praying we get through the rest of the winter with no sickness! this momma cant take anymore!

So Long January....

I am glad to see January go. It's been a rough month for us. Levi camE down with his first cold on January 1st. And along with the cold came alot of sleep issues. He of course did not sleep well since he couldn't breathe. Then about the time he recovered from that, Brian got the flu. He was confined to the upstairs bonus room, but Brody still managed to get it. Levi also came down with a horrible chest cold during all of this. So had 3 very sick boys! Brody and Levi were up at all hours of the night. I still don't think I have recovered from the lack of sleep. I thought we were finally in the clear....but then Levi got an ear infection:( so yes, our January has been less than fun. I am ready for February!

In the middle of all of the sickness going around our house, Levi has been having major sleep issues. Alot of it came from the lack of schedule due to everyone being sick. He was waking up from EVERY nap at 45 minutes screaming. He was waking up literally all night long, for no reason. There were alot of tears...from him, and some from me. So we have finally worked those issues out. Westarted him on rice cereal a couple of weeks ago. AND 2 nights ago we moved him to his own room. Not a big deal for most people, but we have a first floor master, so he's pretty far away from us. Thank the Lord for video monitors:)he's actually been sleeping better in his own room. And we have been too!

Brodys Stats

Brody had to go to the doctor this week due to a virus that was taking over our family. He weighs 44 lbs and is 41 inches tall.....making him completely off the charts for a 3 year old. He is 3 years and 2 months old today. i know nobody else cares about this...its just strictly for my records:)

New Years '11

With young kids, new years plans have been pretty non-existant. This year we decided to make plans though! We headed to the beach with the Daniels and Ridlehoovers to bring in the new year! With all of the kids in one house, we figured we could celebrate together after the kiddos headed to bed:) It was nice getting to spend time with great friends! Its been a long time since we have spent time with another couple WITHOUT kids:) it was a relaxing and refreshing weekend! The boys had a blast entertaining each other... although we should have kept count of how many times they were in timeout between the 2 of them for not sharing:) Logan got a bounce house for his birthday and the Daniels set it up downstairs in the beach house for the boys to plan on! they had a blast! Thankfully there were no head injuries or broken bones! Sara and I decided if we hadnt been supervising, the dads would have definitely injured the boys at some point:)
